Dhaos
The ancient sorcerer whose hunger for power shattered the world and reignited the war for Alchemy.
Dhaos is the primary antagonist of the Golden Sun series and one of the two original Alchemy users who shattered the world's balance millennia ago. A powerful sorcerer consumed by an insatiable desire for power, he sought to awaken all Psynergy at once, a reckless act that caused the destruction of the ancient civilization. His actions set in motion the events of both games, as his followers and his own resurrected form continue to threaten Weyard.

Lore & Background
Centuries later, Dhaos manipulates events from afar through his loyal servant, Saturos, and the dark sorceress Diarmuid. His ultimate goal remains unchanged: to break the seals on the remaining Psynergy stones and restore his own power to its full extent. Even after being seemingly vanquished by the heroes of the first era, his spirit lingers in the shadows, eventually finding a new vessel to continue his crusade against the world's peace.
In Their Own Story
The caverns beneath Alchemy Mountain tremble as a cold wind sweeps through the ancient ruins. Shadows coalesce around a jagged stone altar, forming a silhouette of burning eyes and a staff that crackles with forbidden energy. 'They think they have won,' the voice echoes, resonating not from a throat but from the very air itself. 'But the stones still sing to me. The world will burn again, just as it did before.' A single flame ignites in the darkness, signaling the return of the madman who broke the sky.
Reader's Guide
Dhaos is defined by his extreme arrogance and a singular, destructive obsession with total power. Unlike other villains who seek revenge or conquest for specific reasons, Dhaos views the world as a broken toy that he alone can fix through absolute domination. His personality is cold, calculating, and devoid of empathy, viewing all living beings as mere tools to achieve his resurrection. In the plot, he serves as the mastermind behind the initial conflict in The Lost Age and returns as the final threat in Dark Dawn. While he rarely acts directly in the first game, manipulating events through proxies, his physical return marks the climax of the series' overarching narrative. He represents the ultimate danger of unchecked Alchemy. His unique abilities stem from his mastery of all four elements, allowing him to cast any spell without restriction. In battle, he utilizes devastating combinations of Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind Psynergy that overwhelm even the most skilled users. His staff acts as a conduit for this immense energy, making him nearly invincible until the heroes can disrupt his connection to the world's core.
