However, greed and ambition eventually corrupted these masters, leading to a devastating war known as the Alchemy Wars. Factions clashed with terrifying Psynergy abilities, unleashing elemental storms that tore cities apart and altered the very geography of the planet. The conflict was so intense that it caused the sea levels to rise dramatically, swallowing vast territories and isolating the surviving populations.

In Their Own Story

The sky above the ancient capital burned a violent violet as two rival alchemists dueled atop crumbling spires. One summoned a torrential deluge from the clouds, while the other countered with a wall of searing flame that hissed against the rain. Below, the great stone bridges groaned under the weight of collapsing towers, and the earth itself seemed to recoil in fear. As the final clash of wills erupted, the ground split open, swallowing the city whole into the rising tides, marking the end of an age and the beginning of a silent, submerged world.

Reader's Guide

The Alchemy Wars serve as the foundational tragedy for the current state of Weyard. Before this conflict, the world was unified under a single, advanced civilization that mastered the Elements through Psynergy. During the war, the misuse of these powers caused catastrophic environmental shifts. The most significant result was the flooding of low-lying areas, which created the vast oceans and islands seen in the present day, effectively isolating regions like Vale, Wengal, and Angler. Following the disaster, the surviving sages realized that humanity could not be trusted with such power. They sealed the Elements away within four great stones and hid them deep beneath the earth, ensuring that no one could ever again wield them to cause destruction on a global scale. This decision led to the decline of alchemy as a common practice. Over centuries, knowledge faded into myth, leaving only scattered ruins and legends for future generations like Isaac and Garet to uncover when they eventually awaken the Elements once more.
